in the lovely upper Swansea Valley
   
It is normally possible to walk right behind Henrhyd Falls and enjoy the sensation of a roaring torrent of water falling a few feet from one's face. There is normally a good flow of water but occasionally the falls do freeze solid in the winter. 

Not only the waterfall, but the whole rocky basin, is impressive. The colours of the mosses, ferns, trees and other vegetation change throughout the year and add to its attraction.

After prolonged rain the roar of the falls can be heard a mile down the valley and mist and spray fill the gorge. 

A recent film "Shadow Falls" starring Richard Maddock was based around Henrhyd Falls and they have been used by film makers on a number of occasions. 
 
Craig-y-Nos Castle is an ideal centre for visiting the lovely Brecon Beacons National Park, whose southern boundary runs along the valley leading to Henrhyd Falls. Visitors are very welcome in the park but are reminded to keep to the footpaths, not to leave gates open and to drop no litter. Be aware of the country code and "leave the countryside as you find it."
