Industry & Innovation Tour

Leaving the Castle at 10.00 am, we drive to Ynyscedwyn Iron Works (1610), now recognised as the birthplace of the United States Iron Industry.

We’ll visit the Cefn Coed Colliery Museum, the Dulais Rock and Aberdulais Falls, site of early C16th/ C17th century Industry, and Neath Abbey.

 We will explore Landore, once the world’s main supplier of finished copper, and experience the impact of Welsh Heritage on coal mining, canals and railways.

In the afternoon, near the castle, we’ll call in on the Cribbarth & Penwyllt limestone quarries, source of the Castle’s stone.
